Todos Surpresa! Surprise!
Emma Gente, não acredito! O que é isso? Guys, I can’t believe it! What’s this?
It’s a dinner for you! It was all organized by Lucas, who spent the whole week calling me.
Lucas E desta vez eu cheguei na hora, tá? Deu até tempo de arrumar as mesas. And this time I arrived on time, OK? There was even time to set up the tables.
Wow, I’m lost for words. You’re the people I like most in this city.
Carol Senta aqui, Emma. Sit here, Emma. Rafa made that moqueca (fish stew) you liked so much in Salvador.
Seu Zé E a Dona Marta trouxe a sobremesa. Eu só trouxe a fome! And Dona Marta brought the dessert. I only brought my appetite!
Stop being silly, Zé! Emma, my dear, this is for you to eat well before you make any decision.
Before you all start eating, I wanted to say something. Emma, when you arrived, you barely spoke Portuguese.
Lucas É verdade. No primeiro dia ela só sabia dizer "bom dia" e "obrigada". It’s true. On the first day she only knew how to say "good morning" and "thank you".
Rafa E hoje cê tá aí, contando piada em português. Dá orgulho, viu? And today there you are, telling jokes in Portuguese. It makes us proud, you know?
Emma Para, senão eu vou acabar chorando! Stop, or I’ll end up crying!
Then let’s eat. Tomorrow we’ll talk at the agency, with no rush.
Emma Combinado. Rafa, cadê a pimenta? Deal. Rafa, where’s the hot pepper sauce?
It’s on the table, next to the rice. But go nice and easy, because this one is from Bahia!
The food was gone quickly, but nobody wanted to leave. Despite being tired, Emma stayed until the restaurant closed.
