Learn Portuguese with your ears and your voice. Each lesson is 30 minutes of listening and speaking, with nothing to read: put it on in the car, on a walk or while you cook.
- Lesson 1 of 30 · 30 minPedro Comes HomePedro gets home from school, hungry and thirsty. Say hi, ask how someone is, say what you want, and say please and thank you.
- Lesson 2 of 30 · 30 minHow Was School?Ana asks Pedro about his day. Ask how something was, say you’re tired, talk about what you have to do, and say what you like and don’t like.
More lessons are on the way. The beginner series will have 30 lessons. Your place in each lesson is saved in your browser, so you can stop and pick up where you left off.
How the lessons work
1. Hear it
You hear a sentence in English, then the same sentence in Brazilian Portuguese.
2. Say it
In the pause, say the Portuguese out loud. A few minutes later you’re asked for it again, and this time you say it before you hear it.
3. Follow the story
Every lesson is a scene from one family’s day in Brazil. By the end, you can say both sides of the conversation.
How to get the most out of the lessons
- Speak out loud. Whispering or answering in your head doesn't work nearly as well.
- One lesson a day. If you answered about 8 times out of 10, go on to the next one. If not, do the same lesson again tomorrow.
- Don't read along. Each lesson page lists its words and phrases, but save them for after you've listened.
