How to listen
- Answer out loud. You hear a sentence in English, then a pause. Say it in Portuguese before the voice does, then repeat the Portuguese you hear.
- Listen first, read second. The transcript shows each line only as it’s spoken, so you can’t peek at an answer. Try a lesson with your eyes closed too.
- One lesson a day. If you answered about 8 times out of 10, go on to the next lesson tomorrow. If not, listen to this one again.
The story
Pedro is at the kitchen table with his cheese bread and a glass of water. His mother, Ana, sits down across from him and asks about his day at school. This is the conversation you’ll be able to say by the end of the lesson.

Pedro Foi legal. Mas estou cansado. It was good. But I’m tired.
Ana Você tem lição de casa? Do you have homework?
Pedro Tenho. Tenho muita lição de casa. I do. I have a lot of homework.
Ana Você tem prova amanhã? Do you have a test tomorrow?
Pedro Tenho. Tenho prova de matemática. I do. I have a math test.
