Good to know

  • Asking politely: Te incomoda se eu abrir a janela? (Do you mind if I open the window?) A typical answer is Não, pode abrir. (No, go ahead.)
  • Incomodar-se com means "to be bothered by" or "to mind": Eu não me incomodo com o barulho. (I don't mind the noise.)
  • A polite opener: Desculpa incomodar. (Sorry to bother you.) And when someone offers you something: Não quero incomodar. (I don't want to be a bother.)
