Good to know

  • Latir para means to bark at: O cachorro latiu para mim. (The dog barked at me.)
  • Um latido is a bark: Ouvi um latido lá fora. (I heard a bark outside.) And in Portuguese a dog says au-au.
  • A saying: Cachorro que late não morde. (A dog that barks doesn't bite.) You'll also hear it with the older word ladrar: Cão que ladra não morde.
