Good to know

  • Technology: when a phone, a computer or an app stops responding, it trava: O celular travou. (The phone froze.)
  • To lock: travar a porta, travar o carro. The opposite is destravar (to unlock).
  • People freeze too: Eu travei na entrevista. (I froze in the interview.) And when your back seizes up: Travei as costas. (I threw my back out.)
  • A tongue twister is um trava-língua.
