Good to know

  • Two meanings: largar is to let go of something you are holding, and also to quit: largar o emprego (to quit your job), largar o cigarro (to quit smoking).
  • Me larga! means "Let go of me!" or "Leave me alone!": Me larga!
  • Largar de + infinitive is an informal way to tell someone to stop doing something: Larga de ser bobo! (Stop being silly!)
  • Spelling: the g becomes gu before an e to keep its hard sound: eu larguei, que ele largue.
