Good to know

  • Two ways to build it: informar alguém sobre something, or informar something a someone: Ele me informou sobre o atraso. (He informed me about the delay.) Informe o seu endereço ao banco. (Give the bank your address.)
  • Informar-se means "to find out": Vou me informar sobre os horários. (I'm going to find out about the schedule.)
  • A formal verb: you'll see it on forms, in airports and in the news. With friends and family, avisar is more natural: Me avisa! (Let me know!)
  • Informação can be counted: Preciso de uma informação. (I need some information.)
