Good to know
- Two participles: use matado after ter and morto after ser or estar: Ele tinha matado a barata. (He had killed the cockroach.) O ladrão foi morto pela polícia. (The thief was killed by the police.)
- Everyday expressions: matar aula (to skip class), matar a sede (to quench your thirst), matar a fome (to satisfy your hunger), matar o tempo (to kill time).
- Matar a saudade is to finally see or enjoy someone or something you have missed: Vim matar a saudade de vocês. (I came because I missed you all.)
- Exaggeration is common: Minha mãe vai me matar! (My mom is going to kill me!)
