Good to know
- Botar, colocar or pôr? All three mean "to put". Botar is the informal one, very common in speech; colocar is neutral and works everywhere; pôr is irregular.
- Clothes and music: botar also means to put on: Bota um casaco! (Put on a coat!) Bota uma música. (Put on some music.)
- Expressions: botar a mesa (to set the table), botar fé (to believe in something: Eu boto fé em você.), botar para fora (to let it all out).
- Hens botam ovos: A galinha botou um ovo. (The hen laid an egg.)
