  • Spelling: the c becomes qu before e: eu verifiquei, verifique, verifiquem.
  • Verificar se means to check whether: Verifique se a luz está apagada. (Check whether the light is off.)
  • A bit formal: verificar is common on websites, forms and at work. In casual talk people often say conferir, checar or dar uma olhada (to take a look).
