Good to know

  • Tratar bem / tratar mal is how you treat people: Ele trata bem os funcionários. (He treats the employees well.)
  • Tratar de means "to deal with" or "to be about": O filme trata de uma família do interior. (The movie is about a family from the countryside.)
  • Se trata de means "it's about, it's a matter of": Não se trata de dinheiro. (It's not about money.)
  • Not for paying. To treat someone to a meal, Brazilians use pagar or convidar: Hoje eu pago o jantar. (Dinner is my treat today.)
