Good to know

  • Reparar em means "to notice", and em joins the article: Você reparou no cabelo dela? (Did you notice her hair?) Before a sentence, use que: Reparei que você mudou. (I noticed that you've changed.)
  • Reparar with no preposition is "to repair", but for fixing everyday things Brazilians usually say consertar: Preciso consertar o carro. (I need to get the car fixed.)
  • Não repare na bagunça! is what hosts say when you walk into their home: "Don't mind the mess!"
