Good to know
- Driving: for "to drive", Brazilians mostly say dirigir: Eu dirijo todo dia. (I drive every day.) Guiar a car is understood, but it is less common and sounds a little old-fashioned.
- O guia, a guia: a person who guides is o guia or a guia, and a guidebook is um guia: um guia de viagem (a travel guide).
- Pronunciation: the u is silent. Guia sounds like GHEE-ah and guio like GHEE-oo.
- Guiar-se por is to go by something: Eu me guio pelo mapa. (I go by the map.)
