Good to know
- From cara (face): encarar is to look someone straight in the face, to stare: Por que você está me encarando? (Why are you staring at me?)
- Facing things: encarar um problema (to face a problem), encarar a realidade (to face reality), encarar de frente (to face head-on).
- Being up for it: informally, encarar means to take on something tough or tempting: Você encara uma pizza? (Are you up for a pizza?)
- Encarar como means to see something in a certain way: Eu encaro isso como um elogio. (I take that as a compliment.)
