Good to know

  • Prepositions: repartir com (to share with), repartir entre (to divide among) and repartir em (to divide into): repartir o bolo em oito pedaços (to divide the cake into eight pieces).
  • Repartir or dividir? They are very close. Dividir is more common in everyday speech and is the word for math. For sharing a post or a photo, use compartilhar.
  • Repartir o cabelo is to part your hair: Eu reparto o cabelo no meio. (I part my hair in the middle.)
  • Uma repartição is a government office: uma repartição pública (a government office).
