Good to know
- Spelling and sound: the u after g is silent (distinguir ends like "GEER" with a hard g). It is only written before e and i, so it disappears before o and a: eu distingo, que ele distinga.
- Distinguir A de B: Não consigo distinguir um do outro. (I can't tell one from the other.) You can also say distinguir entre o certo e o errado (to distinguish between right and wrong).
- In everyday speech people also say diferenciar or saber a diferença: Você sabe a diferença? (Do you know the difference?)
