Good to know
- Watch the vowel: eu subo and nós subimos, but ele sobe and eles sobem: Eu subo de escada, mas ele sobe de elevador. (I take the stairs up, but he takes the elevator.)
- Subir no ônibus means "to get on the bus". The opposite is descer: Vou descer no próximo ponto. (I'm getting off at the next stop.)
- Subir on its own often means "to go upstairs": Vou subir para tomar banho. (I'm going upstairs to take a shower.)
