  • Grow and grow up: crescer covers both: A planta cresceu. (The plant grew.) Eu cresci no Rio. (I grew up in Rio.)
  • Spelling: the c becomes ç before a and o: eu cresço, que ele cresça.
  • You can't crescer something. To grow plants, use plantar or cultivar; for hair or a beard, say deixar crescer: Ele deixou a barba crescer. (He grew a beard.)
