Course › Week 12: Portuguese in the real world
Today's test covers all of Phase 3 so far (days 57 to 83):
- The present, past and future subjunctive, and what triggers each one
- Conditions and what-ifs, regrets and reported speech
- The personal infinitive, the passive, relative clauses and the verbs that do everything
- Formal Portuguese, solving problems, the news, storytelling and understanding Brazil
There are 59 questions in five parts. 80% right on the first try is a pass. Take your time, don't look anything up, and treat every mistake as a note about what to review.
Twelve weeks ago you couldn't say bom dia. Today you're being tested on the subjunctive. Take a breath, and begin when you're ready.

What next
Check your score. With 80% or more, Phase 3 is yours: you can wish, doubt, imagine, report, complain politely and tell a good story, which is what an intermediate speaker does. Below 80%, look at which part cost you the most points and repeat that week's review day (day 62, 69, 76 or 83) before moving on; your wrong answers are already waiting on your review list.
Only one week is left. Days 85 to 89 go back over the whole course at full speed, with a new story each day, and day 90 is the final test. Emma has until the end of the month to answer Carol and Sr. Henrique. Day 85 is where the last week begins.
Your result
Answer everything above first. 80% right on the first try means you’re ready to move on. Below that, go back over the days that gave you trouble, then try again.
