Good to know

  • Mergulhar em: the place you dive into comes after em (no, na): mergulhar no mar (to dive into the sea), mergulhar na piscina (to dive into the pool).
  • Mergulhar de cabeça is "to dive headfirst", and also to throw yourself into something: Ela mergulhou de cabeça no projeto. (She threw herself into the project.)
  • O mergulho is a dive, and also diving as an activity: fazer mergulho (to go scuba diving). Dar um mergulho is "to take a dip": Vou dar um mergulho. (I'm going to take a dip.)
