Good to know

  • Enxugar is to wipe something dry with a towel or cloth: enxugar a louça (to dry the dishes), enxugar as mãos (to dry your hands), enxugar as lágrimas (to wipe away tears).
  • Enxugar or secar? Clothes on the line and paint on the wall secam by themselves. You enxuga something with a towel or cloth.
  • Spelling and sound: the g becomes gu before an e (eu enxuguei, que ele enxugue), and the x sounds like "sh".
