Good to know

  • Xingar alguém de is to call someone a name: Ele me xingou de idiota. (He called me an idiot.)
  • Related words: um xingamento is an insult and um palavrão is a swear word. To swear in general is also falar palavrão.
  • Spelling and sound: the x sounds like "sh" (sheeng-GAR), and the g becomes gu before e: eu xinguei, não xingue.
