Good to know

  • Tirar foto is the everyday way to say it: Posso tirar uma foto? (Can I take a photo?) Fotografar sounds more professional or formal.
  • Fotógrafo or fotografo? The stress moves: o fotógrafo (the photographer) is stressed on tó, and eu fotografo (I photograph) on gra.
  • A foto is feminine even though it ends in -o, because it's short for a fotografia: uma foto bonita.
